I met Raymond back in November last year, at the Social Enterprise Summit -
Raymond is an energetic, practical veteran & thought leader in the social enterprise space in Hong Kong. He left his job as an accountant ten years ago to set up HKSEIC, which provides affordable care services for communities from cradle to grave through a series of social enterprises. Not only does this address a demand gap, but given his employment of high-risk youths and low-skilled workers, he has created stable jobs for over 200 staff on his payroll.
The most impressive datapoint? HKSEIC has been cashflow breakeven over the past 7 years, and is approaching earnings breakeven. Through HKSEIC, Raymond has delivered an elegant example of how to execute on the somewhat idealistic goal of integrating & delivering on both social impact and earnings potential.
