March 2018 // OurConservatory

March 30, 2018

What an exciting month!!

In this inaugural monthly newsletter, we invite you to:

  1. Find out more about OurConservatory

  2. SUBSCRIBE !

But first, questions. Such as...why are you receiving this??

I have used my personal contact list (naughty), but I promise you will not receive further updates from hereon unless you subscribe (but please do!).

I would like to introduce:

OurConservatory

an Impact Investing Advisory, providing high-touch brokerage services to facilitate  impact investments.

What is Impact Investing, anyway?

Impact Investing is the principle of incorporating social impact into your investment decisions.

(geekspeak, we're trying to price externalities)

Here's a handy, simplified Q&A >>

Why should you subscribe?

  • This movement is growing, and gaining momentum every day. Keep up to date - I'll highlight interesting research & landmark developments.

  • Impact investing can be incorporated into all investment decisions. Including how you spend your time, and...what literature you subscribe to.

  • You can get involved!!

now, back to March...

I'm officially representing HKSEIC on the Social Enterprise Summit (SES)Organisation Committee 2018! SES is the largest & longest standing conference on social impact & innovation in HK - find out more on the official website, or the Facebook page for latest updates.

I'm also excited to be working with 3 companies in varying stages of investment-readiness. This got me thinking a lot about:

What makes a project investment-ready?

The beauty of the inaugural newsletter is that I do have a lot of material to share ;) Recapping some highlights -

  • This review of Emerson's latest Impact Investors' Handbook got tweeted around by the publisher! The book explores how Impact Investing can be applied on a portfolio basis - a good, easy read for all investment managers.

  • Exploring how social enterprises can add value by risk-sharing, rather than cannibalising, public solutions here.

  • How blockchain can create real value - not just short term paper profits - when it comes to impact investing.

All in all, it's been an eventful month of running around, meeting lots of interesting and inspiring people, projects, and even global thought leaders -

I'll wrap up titbits, inspiring interview notes and clean up potential investment opportunities for the next newsletter - please stay tuned!!

Yours sincerely,

Stephanie
